In May 2021 the Devils Lake Water Improvement District (DLWID) announced the purchase of Blue Heron Landing. The property and building, located at 4006 NE West Devils Lake Road in Lincoln City, is the former location of Blue Heron Landing Marina. With the purchase, DLWID will have permanent lakefront access to Devils Lake for the first time.
The District will be assessing the soundness of the existing structure and developing plans for its repair or replacement in the near future. In the meantime, the building will be used for storage.
The purchase of Blue Heron Landing is a major milestone for the DLWID. It will allow the District to better serve its customers and protect the health of Devils Lake.
The District is grateful to the previous owners of Blue Heron Landing for their cooperation and to the community for its support.
Benefits of the Purchase
The purchase of Blue Heron Landing will provide the DLWID with a number of benefits, including:
- Permanent lakefront access: This will allow the District to better monitor and manage the lake, as well as provide boat launching and other services to its customers.
- A building for storage and office space: This will provide the District with a central location to store its equipment and conduct its business.
- A potential asset for the community: The building could be used for a variety of community purposes, such as a meeting space or a visitor center.
