Visitor Center

The facility will feature a visitor center that will serve as an informative hub, educating the public on Devils Lake and the various activities conducted by the District. It is an open 550 sq. ft. room with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. It contains static displays on lake ecology, invasive species, grass carp, and other environmental sciences. The space is designed to be educational and informative, and to help visitors learn more about coastal lakes and how they can be protected.

Recreational Displays

Custom displays contain exhibits that discuss recreational opportunities in the watershed. This includes information on fishing, boating, swimming, and other activities that people can enjoy in the area.

Science Displays

The center also has a section dedicated to lake science explaining different aspects of lake ecology. There are interactive displays that allow visitors to learn about the different types of plants and animals that live in lakes, as well as the importance of water quality. There are also exhibits on invasive species, and the District's use of sterile grass carp to positively impact the lake's ecosystem.

Meeting Space

As required, the visitors center can make use of the business office's meeting space for educational workshops or presentations for visitors. There are also maps and brochures that visitors can use to plan their stay at the coast. In addition to the exhibits, the space also has a small library with books and magazines on lake ecology and environmental science. The space will be covered by public Wi-Fi where visitors can access online resources.

Entrance and Lobby

The lobby is the first area that visitors enter when they come to the building. It is a large, open space with a bench, a water fountain, and restrooms. The lobby is shared by the Visitors Center and the multi-purpose space.

The Visitors Center which is open during business hours is located on one side of the lobby. The multi-purpose space is located on the other side of the lobby. It is a larger space that can be used for a variety of events, such as meetings, workshops, and parties. When the multi-purpose space is not in use, it is locked.
